Mr Timothy R. Nelson, our Chairman and his wife, Mrs Laure C. Nelson founded Vuna Capital Trustees (Mauritius) Ltd (“Vuna”) in June 2007. The family had been part of several mining, financial and investment projects in Africa, Australia, France and the United Kingdom and therefore needed to find a suitable jurisdiction to house their holdings and interests.
They chose Mauritius as a destination of preference for its regulated environment, quality of life and the island being a platform to the destinations where they have lived and worked over the years connecting business interests and family life.
Tim and Laure, both being fully bilingual in English and French, have shared with their network of business associates and partners, friends and family their experience as to working and living in Mauritius which has opened up business interests from these parties. Vuna Capital Trustees (Mauritius) Ltd was then born to assist other people to use Mauritius as a hub to their business.
It is with great sadness that we have lost Tim earlier this year to cancer, however Laure Nelson and Isabelle Orian, the Managing Director and the Team at Vuna continue in the legacy of the Tim Nelson Family in assisting and supporting their clients plant the seeds for a heritage of their businesses and families respectively.

Laure has an impressive number of years of experience in the medical and hospitality industry. She has headed several well-established institutions and has trained and assisted the management to help them grow their firms with a reliable team of professionals who know their roles and responsibilities while undertaking their daily duties.
Laure is very dynamic, energetic and joined the team from the beginnings of Vuna to assist in finding and providing creative solutions and support for our clients and their families on how to establish themselves within the well-regulated environment that we have in Mauritius.
Having moved her family several times across the world, Laure is a very flexible and adventurous woman who assists and guides our clients with finding appropriate schooling, housing, medical support, recreational facilities as well as advising them on solutions that no one really thinks of when moving aboard, like where to get the best items value for money so that as an expatriate you are not taken advantage of.
Laure is also fully bilingual therefore has no trouble reaching a maximum of people while she promotes Vuna services to our potential, new and current clients.
Isabelle M.C Orian
Isabelle has numerous years’ experience in the services industry and has been working in Financial Services Sector for over 12 years where she held senior leadership roles. She is focused on identifying business opportunities and assists individuals, entrepreneurs and corporations to unveil a family’s goals, business objectives and dreams.
Through Surrey University, UK, Isabelle completed an Advanced Certificate in Human Resources Management and has achieved several other professional courses since. Having lived in Australia, South Africa and Mauritius, Isabelle has an in-depth understanding of diversity and culture which is a great addition to our client focus.
Isabelle joined Vuna to grow the company from a family office to its licencing capabilities as a Management Company and service provider.
She performs her role(s) with not only passion but dedication to her team and the families she supports everyday. Isabelle is self-motivated and dynamic.
Bilingual in both English and French, her main focus is always putting the clients needs first and finding innovative ways to cater for the needs. Isabelle has a can-do attitude and strives for her clients like they are of the same genes as building relationships and partnerships is not only about the business but its also about the human beings behind the structure.
Using her personal and professional network, Isabelle connects people to each other where there is an opportunity at working together on projects that could bring either parties good fortune.
After having spent over 22 years in the financial industry, Didier Merle has set up an Investment Management Company whilst capitalising on his experience of the investment Management Business. Prior to launching his private business, he was the Head of Private Banking and Wealth Management at the Mauritius Commercial Bank Ltd for 9 years (2009-2018) and Managing Director of CIM Asset Management Ltd (2005 -2009).
He returned to Mauritius after his successful years at Banque Transatlantique (2002-2005) as Portfolio Manager where his clients were mainly financial intermediaries and institutional investors. Prior to that, Didier spent 3 years at Dresdner Private Banking, Paris (1999 – 2002) and BFC - Océan Indien, Paris-(1996 – 1998) as Portfolio Manager.
He holds an MBA which he obtained from Paris Dauphine, Sorbone. He is a Graduate from the School of Chamber of and Industry of Paris (ECCIP) and holds a Diploma in Maths and Physics.
Didier joined Vuna’s Board of Directors in 2019 to assist to grow the company by providing strategic support to the Board on prospects of expansion for the business and providing investment opportunities to its clients.
Compliance Manager and Business Development Assistant
BA (Hons.) & M.A.Ed and Criminology
Pooja joined Vuna in early 2019 as she is extensively experienced in the Global Finance Sector. She has acquired hands on experience while working as a Senior Compliance Executive at a management company in Mauritius as well as diverse sector whilst studying and supporting herself and her family.
She is able to guide the Board of Directors by supporting them in industry related regulations and changes. Miss Jhugroo is a University of South Wales MA holder in Criminology; after successfully completing a Degree with Honors at the University of Mauritius in Law and Criminal Justice.
Pooja is energetic, spontaneous, dynamic and proactive whilst staying the regulatory sphere and supporting our clients in a Compliant manner.
Having sustained ongoing compliance with local and global regulatory standards, Pooja is a great addition to the Vuna Group Team, as she will be able to assist all our clients and team with the fast-changing regulations and standards related to Corporate and Trust, Foundation and Special License Administration.
She is a team player and has had no trouble integrating our team with her happy and positive boldness. She will also be supporting our Business Development Team by assisting to create new products and services for the growth and benefit of our clients.
Client Relationship Executive
Kathleen Zaza recently joined Vuna Capital Trustees (Mauritius) Ltd as a Client Relationship Executive. She is responsible for ensuring a prompt and high-quality services to our Clients. Kathleen brings with her over fifteen years of working experience from other offshore management companies in Mauritius where she worked closely with High Net Worth and high profile corporate and individual Clients.
She had acquired experience in the administration of complex structures comprising Funds, Foundations, offshore Trusts, Global Businesses and Domestic Companies as well as international companies from other jurisdictions such as the Republic of Seychelles. She has built up good client relationship over the years with her fellow colleagues as well as her client base. Kathleen is partly qualified on the ICSA/The Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme and holds CIS (Affiliated Membership) status of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators (UK).
Kathleen has already added value to the Company and we know she will continue to do well with the Team.
Richi has worked in the Financial Services Industry for over 10 years now. Having previously worked in hospitality, he has a strong customer care attitude ingrained in him and this is very obvious within our team and through the support he provides our client base. Since his joining Vuna, there is no tasks that scare him away. He is strong willed and motivated to learn each day more and more.
Richi initially joined Vuna to support our Corporate and Trust administration team and management by taking care of our digital and hardcopy data, of our equipment and procurement, our reception and put in place and maintain administration back office support but we soon knew that he has the ability to grow fast and learn even more.
He is self-motivated, proactive and never says no if it can support the team and our clients. There are no tasks that we have given him that he has refused and has grown so much with the team and will continue to grow. We have now asked him to undergo a training programme with Dev and the Corporate and Trust Administration team so that he can grow further in the industry by supporting our clients in our service lines.
Richi has a strong sense of brotherhood and dedication and is the voice of Vuna when Clients call upon our assistance. Always smiling and positive and a willingness to help others like never seen before. It is a pleasure to have Richi within our team.
Junior Administrative Assistant
Tareesh joined Vuna during the school holidays of 2019 and liked it so much, he stayed. Young and enthusiastic to learn with an eagerness to learn a trade, he has joined our Administration team with Richi to guide him as they manage our Data Management Centre and assist in running the front line of the office such as answering telephones, dealing with our suppliers and courier services as well as anything we can give him where he can learn the business. He has a happy demeanor and is always willing to take on new challenges. Once given a target, Tareesh will aim to achieve and exceed expectations.
This is Tareesh’s first employment, but he has already shown interest and commitment in growing with the company and as he calls it “being part of the Vuna family”. We trust he will have a bright future with the Company. He plans to further his education, in line with our business and we shall support him in this advanture.
Vuna’s Accountant and Head of Client Accounting
Hemraz joined our team to enhance our accounting support and capabilities for Vuna and our clients. He has more than 25 years of experience working for reputed companies and major players in the Insurance and Re-Insurance, Global and Fiduciary Industry as well as the Construction Sector before joining Vuna.
He is a solution-oriented person and always endeavor to put forward the right steps to achieve quality within a regulated environment. More of tranquil nature, he is self-driven, self-motivated and is extremely hard working and is not afraid to put in the hours that are required to achieve success.
Hemraz only looks to support the team and the clients by sharing his experience and knowledge of the industries, always brining a positive outcome. He is not afraid of a challenge and will leave no stone unturned if he can bring solutions to the table that can benefit Vuna, the team and the clients. We know he will make a very positive impact in the company, the team and our clients.
We had the pleasure of expanding our Accounting Department with the joining of Kavishen Iyavoo to our team late last year . Kavishen is a graduate with a BSc in Accounting with Finance. He is a self-motivated person who strives for continuous excellence and is always eager to learn new things and make good use of his capabilities at Vuna. He consides himself as someone with a firm sense of responsibilities, adopting a positive attitude and strict adherence to work ethics. Kavishen is currently completing his ACCA level III whiles working with our team to learn various aspects of the business.
Thus far, Kavishen has become an integral part of the team. He has demonstrated an eagerness to learn and with more experience, we expect he will have a long successful career in front of him and with Vuna.
