The food industry worldwide is emerging as a high-growth, high-profit industry, with immense potential, especially in the food processing segment. In an endeavor to give a boost to food processing activities in Mauritius, a Registration Certificate (Food Processing) has been introduced to promote global value chain through the cultivation and importation of agricultural products to be used as raw materials for processing into intermediate and finished products as well as to encourage re-export activities. Registered certificate holders will benefit from incentives such as Income Tax Holiday for the first eight years of operation, exemption from payment Registration duty and land transfer tax for the purchase of immovable property as well as exemption from payment of VAT on equipment and machinery.
